Our Town Energy Choice (Fuel division of Our Town
Consumers Choice) was founded in November, 1999 by the
Barrafords as a community service for senior citizens. Those 74 members told
all their friends and neighbors and we had almost 1000
members by the end of 1999. Our Town Publishing paid all the
mailing, secretarial and phone costs for 1999 members. It
was wholly supported and managed by the Barrafords and Our
Town Publishing.
In 2000, we made the organization independent of the
publishing company. From the 74 original members it’s grown
to its present membership of 7000 plus households, schools,
towns and businesses in 2005 through “word of mouth”. In
2005, we purchased the Energy Alliance of NH, another fuel
membership group when its founder, Wayne Mock, decided to
retire. We ran both groups independently for two years until
deciding this year that merging the two groups would be more
efficient and give us better buying power.
Our new Website that combines both groups, and is far
advanced from the old, amateur Website put together by Dan
Barraford
using Microsoft Front Page in 1999. The new site was
designed by Diane Kolifrath, a longtime member. It allows
members to view and edit their accounts in password
protected secure areas.
A Note on Rate Changes: While we strive to keep
membership rates as low as possible, we have had to find a
common pricing structure between the two entities, Energy
Alliance and Our Town Energy. In an effort to incorporate
the best of both worlds, and to meet the requirements of our
operating costs, we have determined the following new
pricing structure:
amt
Residential Accounts
First Location including 1 Fuel Type
$25.00
Each Additional Location including 1 Fuel Type
$10.00
Each Additional Fuel requested for a Location
$10.00
Business Accounts
First Location including 1 Fuel Type
$50.00
Each Additional Location including 1 Fuel Type
$15.00
Each Additional Fuel requested for a Location
$15.00
Most members will
pay the same as they paid last year. A few will pay more, a
few will pay less.
