Our Town Energy Choice (Fuel division of Our Town Consumers Choice) was founded in November, 1999 by the Barraford's as a community service for senior citizens.  Those 74 members told all their friends and neighbors and we had almost 1000 members by the end of 1999. Our Town Publishing paid all the mailing, secretarial and phone costs for 1999 members. It was wholly supported and managed by the Barraford's and Our Town Publishing Inc..

 In 2000, we made the organization independent of the publishing company. From the 74 original members it’s grown to its present 2010 membership of 11000 plus households, schools, towns and businesses  through “word of mouth”. In 2005, we purchased the Energy Alliance of NH, another fuel membership group when its founder, Wayne Mock,  retired. We ran both groups independently for two years until learning that merging the two groups would be more efficient and give us better buying power.
