About Us

The Our Town Energy Alliance (Fuel division of Our Town Consumers Choice) was founded in November, 1999 by the Barrafords as a community service for senior citizens.  Those 74 members told all their friends and neighbors and we had almost 1000 members by the end of 1999. Our Town Publishing paid all the mailing, secretarial and phone costs for 1999 members. It was wholly supported and managed by the Barrafords and Our Town Publishing Inc..

In 2000, we made the organization independent of the publishing company. From the 74 original members it’s grown to its present 2011 membership of 15,000 plus households, schools, towns and businesses  through “word of mouth”. In 2005, we purchased The Energy Alliance of NH, another fuel membership group when its founder, Wayne Mock,  retired. We ran both groups independently for two years until realizing that merging the two groups would be more efficient and give us better buying power.

It has truly been a community effort. We've fought several battles together against the speculators and for the rights of the oil consumer. After eleven years, many of you are good friends and we consider all of you our good neighbors. We thank you all and promise to continue to do our best for you in these difficult times.
