News for the 2007 - 2008 Season

This has been a great year for our members but a terrible year for heating fuel prices. In April May, members locked in at $2.38 to $2.44 per gallon for heating oil and about $1.80 to $1.84 per gallon for propane for heating.

The average price for heating oil last week was $3.29/Gallon; for propane $2.869/Gallon. Our members are saving almost 90 a gallon on oil and over a dollar a gallon on propane. See the US EIA numbers. These are huge savings. But these high prices are tragic for those on fixed incomes. MORE:  Unfortunately, unless the United States goes into a recession, I dont see much any likelihood that these prices will drop. Supply is tight and there are multitudes of young Asians and Russians buying their first new cars. Or put another way, demand is still increasing faster than supply. This may change in the short run when and if Canadas oil sands come on line in a few years, d some of the large but difficult deep water projects come on line, and if coal gasification becomes a practical reality.

What's In Store for the 2008 - 2009

Time to renew for the '08 -- '09 Season

Beginning January 1st, 2008, please renew for the 2008-09 season.

Annual Subscription button! Peace of mind for 2008-09, by popular demand. This year youll have a choice of signing up for automatic renewal every year until you cancel. Youll still have to remember to re-enter your account and change fuel details if anything changes and to return the signed fuel contract.

More members!!: We think we can obtain discount cards on gasoline & diesel this year if we double our membership. Make it a point this year to tell your neighbors and your friends at work & play about us. Youll save them a lot of money, perhaps get a Thank You dinner out of it and help us grow. Also, if you know some senior citizens or people on a tight budget, let them know about us. Annual savings of $500 to $1000 are substantial to those on fixed incomes. Applications for OTEA can be found on the bottom of this page.

Some IMPORTANT reminders:

Make sure we are on your Internet Providers Safe Senders list. ISPs see our emails as SPAM because of words like Discount, $, etc. Add www.otchoice.com and dmbiii@otchoice.com, to your Internet Providers Safe Senders list, not your local computer email list. If in doubt, ask your ISP how.

Dont throw out the letter from the fuel dealer containing the contract. Looked like junk mail was the most common explanation. PLEASE remember that signing up with us is only the FIRST step. For all fuels, you must sign and return a contract to the fuel dealer AFTER you join us. The only exception is for grandfathered Eastern Propane clients for propane only. They are automatically renewed as long as they pay their dues, IF they were with both Eastern and OTEA the previous year. Contracts are mailed out shortly after weve secured a bid on fuel.
